The 589th Stated Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1, F. & A.M. was held at the Masonic Temple located at 77-12 Honmoku Midorigaoka, Naka-ku, Yokohama on the 14th day of May 2011. (SD#1-11)
A lodge of MM's was opened in due and ancient form at 13:00 hours with Bro Sagara, acting WM in the East, WB Buda, acting SW in the West, and Bro Tsujii, JW in the South.
WM then recognized the Distinguished Brethren as listed in the Tyler's register of this date.
And he announced that this being our Stated Meeting for the month of May 2011, the first order of Business would be the reading of the minutes of our last Stated Meeting and all subsequent Special Meeting. The Secretary read the minutes of our Monthly Meeting held on 2 April and was APPROVED AS READ.
The treasurer report for the month of April reported by the Treasurer which he moved and it was seconded that the report accepted as read subject to the usual audit. MOTION CARRIED.
The Secretary then read the bills for the period after which he moved and it was seconded that the bills be paid. MOTION CARRIED.
Next was the report of the several committees: All committee reports were negative with the exception of the followings:
RECEPTION OF PETITIONS: None.
BALLOTTING: WM of the Lodge reported that the Committee of Investigation had submitted a favorable report on the petition of Mr. Junichiro Mukai and he then elected to receive the degree of masonry in this lodge by ballot of the member present.
CORRESPONDENCE: The secretary announced the Monthly Bulletin of 30 April and draft GLEC Minutes of 26 March had tapped on the Bulletin Board in the conference room.
And Secretary announced following correspondences; Mar 5: SD #49-10, Apr. 9: Thanking letter for Donation on Disaster by Lodge #1 and WB Embaga (GLoP): Apr 27: SD#1-11; Apr. 27: WB Zamora, #20 assigned GI of this Lodge again and Apr 9: Children Festival.
MOTION FOR DONATION: Bro Secretary made a motion that 30,000 yen donate to the Children Festival and received second motion with unanimous vote from brethren present.
CHARITY: Amount of ¥8,440 was collected from brethren present.
SICK AND VISITATION: Negative report.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Bro Secretary proposed that annual dues of the Lodge vs GL head tax issue will be on the table again until next monthly meeting since we will have passing ceremony in this afternoon.
NEW BUSINESS:
PASSING CEREMONY: The Lodge lowered to FC degree by acting Master at 13:50 hours.
At 14:20 hour, by three distinct knocks on the door by Bros. Shea Erikson and Shunji Suzuki, EAs, were admitted into the Lodge and Obligated a Fellow Craft with Bro Sagara. Bro. Yutaro Suzuki gave the Working Tool Lecture, the Stair case Lecture was given by Bro. Tsujii and by Bro. Alawn Jordan gave a G Lecture. The Charge had delivered by WB Buda and all of them by in English.
At 15:35 hours, the Lodge was then called briefly free from restraint for the purpose of congratulating our newly obligated Brothers.
THE LODGE RESUMED BACK TO LABOUR: Bro Sagara, acting Master of the Lodge resume the Lodge back to MM degree for closing.
WB Buda warned the members present from West, that #640's old Apron displayed in the Cabinet in the Conference room had gone. He was still investigating the circumstances of the theft. He suggested that all Masons using the Temple could help with security by keeping a careful eye on Temple furnishings and reporting anything unusual to the Secretary or WM.
From the South, Bro Tsujii reported that he and Bro Yutaro Suzuki had visited Kokusai Lodge No. 15 and brought fraternal greetings from WB Carrano, the WM of that Lodge. Bro Tsujii also reported that he and Bro Suzuki were coordinating the activities of the Temple Maintenance Committee.
MWB Watanabe commented the Staircase Lecture presented by Bro Tsujii was wonderful even he had only 2 weeks to refresh his memory but he had done perfect.
CLOSING: At 16:00 hours, there being no other business, Bro Sagara, acting Master proceeded to close the Lodge in due and ancient form.
There were total 10 MMs of this Lodge, 2 FCs and 2 potential Candidate during harmony.
Regrets had received from Bros Inomata, Anderson, Sneathern, Kajiwara, Tamado and Ogawa (Taiki).
