The excavation of the foundations for the new Temple has finished and the site is awaiting a preliminary inspection by the Yokohama City Surveyor's Office. [See photographs] This should take place early next week. If the inspector is satisified that the work so far corresponds to the plans approved by his office, pouring of concrete will begin almost immediately.
Mr. Sakano, the chief architect, is anxious to have the work on the foundations completed before the start of the rainy season.
This morning several Brethren visited the site to discuss progress with Mr. Sakano and Mr. Ito, the site supervisor. Early decisions need to be made on several items with long lead times such as the exterior tiles and the built-in security system.
