Across the road at the back of the Yokohama Country & Athletic Club (YC&AC) stands the empty shell of the former All-Nippon Airways (ANA) dormitory. For several years ANA has been planning, through a major property developer, to demolish the dormitory and erect a modern housing block. Unfortunately access to the site is very limited, and the developer has not been able to secure a route through or around YC&AC.

Earlier this year the developer proposed an alternative route [ Click for Map ] coming up the hill and passing close to the location of the new Yokohama Temple. Needless to say, the local residents are bitterly opposed to this plan as it would involve one ten-ton truck movement every three minutes, Monday to Saturday, for almost three years.

Although the proposed routing does not affect the Temple building directly, the brethren of both Yokohama lodges are following developments closely and a representative of Masonic Hall Ltd. has been attending meetings of the Neighborhood Association.

Should the construction go ahead using the proposed access route, on-road parking around the Temple will become almost impossible.
