A Special Meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1 was convened on Saturday, November 25 for the purpose of conferring the Second Degree of Freemasonry on Bro. Koji Konno.

The Lodge was opened at 1 pm with WB Herrera in the East, MWB Katagiri in the West, and WB Buda in the South. MWB Watanabe conducted the Candidate as Acting Senior Deacon, switching to WM to deliver the Obligation in Japanese. After returning the gavel of the Lodge to WB Herrera, MWB Watanabe resumed the duties of Senior Deacon and gave the Staircase Lecture and Charge. Bro Inomata presented Bro Konno with the Working Tools of the Second Degree and WB Herrera gave the G Lecture.

As with most recent degree work, the Brethren of Far East Lodge No. 1 again demonstrated their complete fluency in both English and Japanese rituals, switching from one to the other for the benefit of the Candidate.

The next meeting of Far East Lodge No. 1 will be on December 2. It promises to be a very busy meeting with a double Third Degree for Bros. Wachi and Takeda. The Lodge will also conduct its annual Election of Officers.
In related news, the Installation of the Officers elected on December 4 will be held on Saturday, January 13. The Installating Officer will be MWB Johnston and MWB Watanabe will be the Installing Marshal.
