The Special Meeting of June 27, called for the purpose of conferring the First Degree of Masonry on Mr. Jason Kraker and Mr Masumi Ishibashi, was honored by the presence of three distinguished visitors: RWB Donald Smith, Senior Grand Warden, VWB Anand Murti, Senior Grand Lecturer, and WB Donald Zamora, Grand Lodge Inspector for Far East Lodge No. 1. WB Buda invited all three Brethren to join him in the East.

The Conferral of the First Degree of Masonry was conducted entirely in English. WB Buda gave the Obligation, MWB Watanabe the Apron Lecture, Bro Sato the Working Tools, and Bro Sneathern the Lecture of the First Degree. At the conclusion of the ceremony, RWB Smith delivered the Charge to the Lodge's newest Entered Apprentice Masons.

In addition to our three distinguished visitors, the Lodge welcomed first-time visitor Bro David S. Watson of DeMolay-Land Lodge No. 22. WB Buda presented him with the customary commemorative card.

Before closing the Lodge, WB Buda invited our distinguished visitors to say a few words. RWB Smith and WB Zamora gave constructive advice on the deliverance of the longer lectures, and WB Zamora announced that the planned picnic for members of Yokosuka Lodge No. 20, Far East Lodge No. 1, and Lodge Star in the East No. 640 would probably be held on the first weekend of August at the Negishi Heights picnic area. VWB Murti and WB Zamora suggested that a short Lodge of Instruction immediately after our Stated Meeting for July would help to instill confidence in the Deacons and Stewards and improve their floorwork.
